Kalangan

Our place, Kalangan, is located at No. 71/87 on Kirtipal Street in the Jwalapur area. It is a bit tucked away if you don't know the neighborhood well. The street is usually full of people walking and some goats wandering around sometimes. Inside the shop, things are kept fairly simple. We have shelves filled with different items and some things hanging on the walls. It is not a very big space, so we have to be careful about where we put everything so it doesn't look like a mess. Jwalapur is a busy part of town and Kirtipal Street has its own rhythm. We open up in the morning and usually stay until late evening. The light inside isn't the brightest, but it works for what we do. People come in and spend a lot of time looking around before they decide on anything. We don’t really do much advertising or anything like that, people just find us because they live nearby or someone told them about the shop. There is a small window in the back that looks out onto an alleyway, which gives a bit of a breeze if the weather is right. It is a quiet enough spot once you are inside, away from the main road noise. We just go about our work day by day, making sure things are in their right place and the floor is swept clean every night. It is just a normal way to run a small business in this neighborhood.
