Indian Institute Of Technology Roorkee

We are based up in the Hardwar district of Uttarakhand, specifically in the Roorkee area. It’s a place with a lot of history, and you can feel that when you walk around the streets here. Our office is a practical space where we deal with all the different things that come with running a technical institute. It’s not all about big laboratories and high-tech gear; a lot of it is just sitting at a desk and making sure the records are kept straight. The weather here changes a lot, so some days it’s beautiful and clear, and other times it’s pouring rain. We’ve got a simple setup with basic furniture and enough computers for everyone to do their jobs. We don't go in for any of that corporate talk about visions or missions. We just have tasks to do and we try to do them well. People from all over come to this part of Uttarakhand, so we see a lot of different faces throughout the week. It’s a busy place but in a quiet, steady kind of way. We’ve been here for quite some time, so we’re well-integrated into the local life. Most of the staff live nearby, and we just walk or bike to work. It’s a decent way to spend the day, working on engineering matters in a town that’s known for exactly that.
