Shivam Modern Rice Mill

Down on Bilgram Road in Hardoi, things move at a certain pace. We are right near the Adpi Dharam Kanta, so there are always trucks pulling in and out, weighing their loads. You can hear the mill running from a distance; it’s a steady thumping sound that we’ve all grown used to. Most of the time, the air is full of that sweet smell of raw rice being processed. It gets a bit dusty inside, but that’s just the nature of the work we do here. We’ve been operating this mill for a while, and it’s a lot of manual labor, checking the machines and making sure the grain is moving through the pipes correctly. People from around the district know where to find us. We aren't big on decorations or anything like that. The office is small and usually has a stack of registers piled up on the desk. We spend most of our day out where the action is, talking to the drivers or looking at the quality of the paddy that just arrived. Sometimes the rain messes with the schedule, and we have to scramble to keep everything dry, but we manage. It’s a straightforward life. We wake up, run the machines, talk to the farmers, and go home when the sun goes down. It's how things have always been done in this part of Hardoi, and we just keep it going as best as we can every single day.
