The Radheyshyam Rajkumar Roller Flour Mill sits right on Unnao Road in the Hardoi district. It is a dusty place, but that is just the nature of working with flour and grain every day. You can hear the heavy rollers grinding away from a distance, making a low rumbling sound that never really stops until we shut down for the night. Most of the guys working here are covered in a thin layer of white dust by noon, which is something you just get used to. We deal with farmers and transporters coming in at all hours, so the yard is usually full of tractors or old trucks. Hardoi can get really hot in the summer, and the heat inside the mill is no joke, but we keep the fans going and just push through the day. We are not doing anything complicated, just taking the raw material and turning it into something people can use. There is a small cabin where we keep the records and handle the payments, and it’s usually the only place where you can hear yourself think. We have seen the road outside change over the years, getting busier and more paved, but the work inside the mill stays pretty much the same. It is honest, physical work that keeps us tired but satisfied. We don't have any fancy signs, just the work we do every day.
