Down in Hardoi, specifically in the Mansoor Nagar area, you’ll find us at Kharela Bio-Energy Farmer Producercompany Limited. We operate out of Devesh Kumar’s place. It’s a local operation run by the people who actually work the land around here. We got together because we wanted to see if we could do something better with the waste from our farms. Bio-energy is what we call it, but it’s really just about making sure nothing goes to waste. Hardoi is a place where people know the value of hard work. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning. Instead, we meet under the shade or in the small room we’ve set aside for the company’s business. Devesh handles a lot of the day-to-day stuff. You’ll usually find him with a ledger or on the phone with another farmer. It’s a group of us, all trying to help each other out. Sometimes we argue about the best way to do things, but that’s just how it goes when you care about the result. The village life is quiet, but we keep ourselves very busy. We aren't here to make a quick buck; we’re here to make sure our farms stay productive for a long time. If you’re passing through Mansoor Nagar, you’ll see us working away. It’s not always easy, and the weather doesn't always cooperate, but it’s what we know how to do.
