Our office is on Hunter Road, right in Hanamkonda. If you know the 1-7-892/1 building, that is exactly where we sit. It is a very busy part of Warangal. There is always a lot of noise from the street outside with the buses and autos going by. We have been working from this spot for a good number of years now. Most of the folks who come in are just regular people from the neighborhood. They stop by to drop off their monthly payments or just to see how the next chit group is forming up. It is not a big corporate office with glass walls or polished floors. We just have some old wooden desks and a lot of thick registers. My cousin usually handles the main door and greets people. We keep all the ledger books on the wooden shelf behind the main counter. Sometimes the traffic on Hunter Road makes it hard to hear ourselves talk, so we have to speak up a bit. People come in with their little passbooks and we stamp them by hand. It is a daily routine for us. We know most of the faces that walk through the door by their first names. It is a very local kind of thing. We do not do much fancy stuff here. Just keeping track of the money for the people in the chit groups. When it is auction day, the room gets very crowded. We pull in a few extra stools then. It is just a normal, practical workplace.
