Satguru Seva Trust Janki Hospital

Satguru Seva Trust Janki Hospital is located in a very special part of the country. Being in Jankikund, Chitrakoot, means we are surrounded by a lot of history and a lot of people who come here for spiritual reasons. The hospital itself is run by the trust, and it has a very different feel than a big city medical center. It’s a bit more grounded. We see a lot of elderly people who come for eye checkups or general health issues. The grounds are often dusty, and you can hear the birds in the trees outside the windows. It’s a place where things move a little slower, which I think the patients appreciate. We have a lot of staff who have lived in Chitrakoot their whole lives. We know the rhythms of the seasons here, from the monsoon rains that turn everything green to the dry heat that makes you want to stay indoors. The hospital isn't fancy, but it serves a huge need for the local community. There are often queues outside in the mornings, and we try to get through them as fairly as we can. It’s hard work, and sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just keep going. It’s a community effort, and we feel like we are just one part of the long history of service in this town.
