Larsen & Toubro Limited

Aghar is a small village in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. Working from here is quite a different experience compared to the busy cities. Surinder Pal Daroch, who is the son of B.R. Daroch, runs this Larsen & Toubro Limited office. It’s a very peaceful place surrounded by hills and a lot of greenery. The air is fresh and the pace of life is much slower. Our office isn’t in a big building; it’s just a simple place that fits right in with the village surroundings. Getting here can be a bit of a journey, especially when the weather turns cold in the winter or during heavy rain. We spend most of our time on the computer or handling phone calls for local projects. Sometimes the electricity goes out if there is a big storm in the mountains, so we just have to be patient. It’s not like the city where everything is available all the time. We have a set routine and we stick to it. Lunch and tea are usually social times where we talk about local happenings. It’s a small, close-knit group and we all help each other out. Working in this kind of environment requires a bit of a different mindset, but it’s very rewarding in its own way. We just focus on managing the company’s administrative work for the district and making sure everything is done right.
