Handloom Shg

We are a group of people working together over here in Pauthiya Sumerpur. It is a quiet place in Hamirpur where we spend most of our days working on the looms. Handloom Shg started because we wanted to keep the traditional way of making cloth alive in our village. It isn't a fancy setup or anything like that. Just a few rooms where the machines clatter from morning until the sun goes down. Most of us grew up watching our elders do this kind of work, so it felt right to keep it going. Sometimes the thread snaps or the colors don't come out exactly how we thought, but that's just how it goes with handmade things. We don't have a big office or a team of managers. It is just us locals trying to make something useful with our hands. People from around Hamirpur sometimes drop by to see what we are making this week. We handle everything ourselves, from sorting the raw materials to cleaning up the workspace at the end of the shift. It gets quite dusty in the summer months, but the breeze through the windows helps. We aren't trying to change the world or anything big like that. We just want to do honest work and make sure the skills we learned aren't forgotten.
