Goyal Automobiles is out in Dugha, near Kohli, in the Post Dugha area of Dharamput. It’s a quieter part of the world compared to the big cities, which is something we actually like. Our shop is right by the road, and we’ve become a bit of a landmark for people traveling through this part of Dharamput. We spend most of our time with our hands in engines or dealing with spare parts that have been sitting on the shelf for a little too long. It’s a family-run kind of vibe here, even if we aren’t all related. The garage is open to the air, so we’re always dealing with whatever the weather decides to do that day. If it rains, everything gets a bit damp, and if it’s hot, we’re all sweating under the tin roof. We get a lot of locals who bring their tractors or cars in when something starts making a funny noise. There’s usually a pot of tea going somewhere in the back, and someone is always talking about the latest news from the village. We don’t have any fancy diagnostic computers or anything like that; we mostly just use our ears and our tools. It’s a simple life out here, and the work is steady. We like the fact that we know everyone who stops by. We just take things as they come and try to get the vehicles back on the road as quickly as we can.
