Krishna Barrels is spread out across four plots—614, 615, 628, and 629. It’s a lot of ground to cover, but we need it because barrels take up a massive amount of room. If you walk onto the site, you'll see rows and rows of them stacked up high. It’s a loud place. The sound of metal clanging is something you get used to after about twenty minutes, but it can be startling for visitors. We spend our days moving these big containers around, cleaning them, or getting them ready for transport. It’s physical, heavy work. The guys on the floor have a lot of muscle from shifting the stock all day. We use forklifts constantly to navigate the space between the plots. It’s not a glamorous business, but it’s an essential one for the other industries in the Gidc. We’ve been expanding into these different plots over the years as we needed more storage. It can be a bit of a maze if you don't know your way around. We don't have a glossy brochure or a fancy website. We just have a lot of barrels and a crew that knows how to handle them. The sun beats down on the yard in the afternoons, making the metal hot to the touch, so we have to be careful with our hands. It’s just a regular, hard-working industrial spot where we focus on getting the barrels where they need to go. We stay busy from early morning until the gates close.
