Down in the Halol GIDC Estate at Plot No. 207/a/1, things stay pretty busy with all the packaging work we do. There are usually stacks of corrugated sheets and boxes piled up almost to the ceiling. It makes the place look a bit like a maze. We’ve been here for a while and the building has seen better days, but it serves its purpose. The tape machines make this high-pitched screeching sound all day that you just get used to after a week of working here. We don’t have a dedicated sales team or anything like that. Usually, it's just the owner or one of the seniors taking calls on a mobile phone while standing on the loading dock. Halol can get quite dusty, so we try to keep the doors closed, but the trucks coming in and out make that difficult. We have a small tea stall just outside the gate where most of the guys go during their break. It’s a simple operation. We cut, we fold, and we glue. Sometimes the glue pot gets stuck and we have to spend an hour cleaning it out, which is a real pain. We just aim to get the counts right and get the bundles out on the truck before the driver gets impatient. It's honest work and keeps everyone occupied from morning to evening. We don't have time for fancy talk, just getting the boxes finished.
