Shalom Enterprises

If you go down Stand Road in Haliyal, right near where the buses pull in at the station, you’ll find us at 894/4. Being so close to the bus stand means it’s always noisy and there’s always people walking past the window. We sell a bit of everything here at Shalom Enterprises, mostly things people need for their shops or homes. It’s a lot of lifting and moving heavy boxes around the floor. The shelves are packed tight because the space isn't really that big for all the stock we keep. Sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for because things get shifted around during the day. We don’t have a fancy computer system that tells us where every single screw or part is, so we rely on our memory mostly. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the inventory all morning. We open early because that’s when the first buses start arriving and people are out and about. It’s practical work and it keeps us on our feet. We talk to the drivers, the local shopkeepers, and anyone else who drops in for a chat. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in town, just a place where you can get what you need without a fuss. On rainy days, it gets a bit messy with people bringing in mud, but we just mop it up and keep going. We've been here long enough to know most of the faces.
