Maturi Purna Chandra Rao Sons has been part of Bagur in Channarayapatna Taluk for a long time. Our address is 458 and it is a place where many generations have walked through the door. It is a family-run business and we carry that name with a lot of history behind it. The shop is filled with all sorts of things and sometimes it feels a bit cramped but we know exactly where everything is located. We handle a lot of trade that comes through this part of the taluk. People from the nearby villages come to us because they know they can get what they need without a fuss. We do not use any fancy advertising or big signs. The word of mouth from one farmer to another is usually how people find their way to our counter. Sometimes we sit outside on the bench when the weather is good and watch the tractors go by. The work involves a lot of manual counting and keeping track of who owes what. It is a very traditional way of doing business where a person’s word means something. We see the same faces every week and we have seen their children grow up and start coming in themselves.
