We are D. Manna & Co., and you can find us at the Manjushree building in the Durgachak area of Haldia. Being in Purba Midnapur, specifically in an industrial hub like Haldia, means there is always a lot of movement around us. Durgachak is a busy spot with plenty of workers and trucks moving towards the port and the big factories. Our office in Manjushree is where we keep all our files and do the planning for the jobs we take on. It’s often humid and salty because of the proximity to the water, but that’s just life in this part of Bengal. We have a small team that has been together for years, so we don't need many instructions to know what needs to be done. We deal with a lot of local contractors and workers who are always coming in and out of the office. The walls are lined with old folders and there’s usually a stack of paperwork on the main table that we are working through. We don't try to look like a big corporation from Kolkata; we are just a local Haldia firm trying to get the job done right. We have our own way of doing things that might seem a bit messy to an outsider, but it makes sense to us. It is a practical, hardworking atmosphere where we value getting the day's work finished over looking polished. We spend a lot of time on our feet checking on various things in the Durgachak locality.
