Meghalaya Cements Limited

In the village and post office area of Rangauti, you will find us working for Meghalaya Cements Limited. This branch is handled by the family of Sofiqur Rahman Choudhury. We are deep in the Hailakandi district of Assam. It is a quiet place surrounded by a lot of green, which is nice compared to the dusty city sites. We operate from a local house mostly. There isn't a big sign out front, just the word of mouth that travels through the village. Most people around here know us by name anyway. We spend our days coordinating deliveries to various parts of the district. It’s not always easy because the bridges and roads can be tricky around here. We don't use any fancy software or big computers. Most of our records are kept in thick notebooks that we fill up every few months. It is a very hands-on way to run a business. We talk to the drivers directly and make sure they know where they are going. Sometimes we have to wait for the rain to stop before we can move anything. We are just trying to make a living and help the local folks get their building materials on time. It is simple work, but it keeps the family busy and the community moving forward. We don't need much more than that to be satisfied with our day. Being helpful to our neighbors is what really matters.
