Jayanta Printing

If you walk down Post Office Road in Habra, you’ll eventually find us. We’re in the North 24 Parganas district, right in the heart of the taluk. Jayanta Printing has been a part of this street for quite some time. It’s a narrow road and it gets quite crowded with cycles and rickshaws, especially in the mornings. Our shop is filled with the sound of the machines and the rustle of paper being stacked. We don't have any flashy advertisements or a polished storefront. It’s just a place where work gets done. I took over from my father, and not much has changed since then, except maybe a few newer machines. We handle everything from local leaflets to bigger books. The humidity in this part of Bengal can be a real pain for the paper, so we have to be careful how we store things. Sometimes customers stay and chat for a while about local news while they wait for their orders. It’s that kind of neighborhood. We know the postman and the grocery shop owner across the way. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We try to be honest about how long a job will take. Most days we are here from early morning until the sun goes down. There is usually a bit of a breeze coming off the road, which helps with the heat.
