Viru Bhai Ki Dukan

If you are walking down Janak Ganj Road in the Lashkar area of Gwalior, you will find Viru Bhai Ki Dukan. We are right opposite Nirankari Bakery, which is helpful because the smell of fresh bread usually drifts over to our side in the mornings. It’s a small place, really. We don't have much room to move around behind the counter. The shop has been here in the 474001 area for quite a while now. Some days it’s so busy you can barely see the street for all the people, and other days it’s just us watching the rain or the heat waves. We keep a water pot in the corner for anyone who is thirsty. The walls have some old calendars hanging on them that haven't been changed in a year or two. We aren't trying to be the most modern shop on the block. We just provide what the neighborhood needs. Usually, someone is standing outside talking about the local news or the weather. Janak Ganj Road is always full of life, and being across from the bakery means there is always someone nearby. We spend a lot of time just tidying up the items on the shelves or sweeping the front step. The Lashkar area has its own rhythm and we are just a tiny part of it. It’s a simple business for simple people. We don't need much more than our regulars and a bit of shade.
