Vidyapeeth Cancer Hospital

Located right opposite the old high court in Gwalior, Vidyapeeth Cancer Hospital is a place that many people in this city know. The building is easy to find because everyone knows where the old court is. It’s a serious kind of place, given the work we do, but we try to keep the atmosphere as calm as possible for everyone. The hallways are long and have that distinct hospital smell that stays in your clothes. We have a lot of benches lining the walls because there are always families waiting around. People travel from quite far away to come here, sometimes taking the bus for hours. We see them sitting with their bags and flasks of tea, waiting for their names to be called. The staff here works hard, often staying late to finish up the charts and clean the rooms. We don't have a lot of flashy signs or modern art; it’s mostly just white walls and functional furniture. There’s a small garden area near the side where people sometimes sit to get a bit of fresh air and sunlight. It’s a busy institution, and there’s always a bit of a queue at the billing counter. We deal with heavy things every day, so we try to speak softly and keep things organized. It’s not an easy job, but it’s what we do here in Gwalior, across from the old legal buildings. We just take it one patient at a time and do what is needed.
