Shelendra Kirana Store

Started the shop years ago here in Patel Nagar. City Centre gets quite busy around noon but we stay open through the heat. The shelves have everything from soap bars to the specific brand of tea people around here like. It's right near the Bank of Maharashtra, so people often drop by after their bank work. We don't have fancy displays. Just bags of rice, lentils, and the usual snacks the kids ask for after school. Most mornings start early with milk deliveries. Then it's just about weighing out sugar or finding that one particular spice someone needs for lunch. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with the traffic outside but that’s just how it is in Gwalior. We keep things simple. If we don’t have something today, it usually comes in the next truck. The regulars know us by name and we know which biscuits they prefer. It’s a small space, filled mostly with boxes and the smell of spices. Nothing too complicated about how we run things. We just keep the lights on and make sure the staples are in stock. Even when it rains and the road gets messy, the shop stays open. It’s a lot of standing and moving boxes around, but we are used to it by now. People come in, talk for a minute about the weather, and go home with their groceries. That’s our day, every day, month after month.
