Sharma General Store

Down here in Morar, specifically in Sadar Bazar, things move at their own pace. Sharma General Store has been a part of this Gwalior neighborhood for a long time. You can find us easily enough if you walk down from the main crossing. It’s a modest shop with the blue painted shutters that have seen better days. We stock the usual stuff like lentils, spices, and plastic items for the kitchen. The morning starts with people coming in for milk and bread, and then it gets a bit slow until the afternoon. I spend a lot of time checking the ledgers and making sure the jars are closed tight against the humidity. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to move everything out of the way. My nephew helps out on the weekends when the college is closed. It’s good to have an extra pair of hands because the heavy sacks of flour can be tough to move alone. We know most of the families living in the nearby streets by name. It’s funny how you see kids grow up just by watching them come in for chocolates over the years. We don’t have a computer system or anything, just a pen and a notebook to keep track of things. It works well enough for us. Life is mostly about keeping the shelves full and the customers happy with what they get.
