Sain Nath General Store

Sain Nath General Store is right in front of the Power House in Shinde Ki Chawani, Gwalior. This is the Lashkar City side, zip code 474009. It’s easy to find because everyone knows the Power House. The shop is a decent size for this area. I took it over a few years ago. It’s mostly just shelves full of pulses, rice, and cleaning supplies. Since we are right across from the Power House, we get some of the workers coming in for tobacco or snacks during their breaks. The area of Shinde Ki Chawani is quite old and the streets are narrow. When the sun hits the front of the store in the afternoon, it gets very warm inside. I usually keep the overhead fan on full speed. The floor is made of old stone and it stays cool, which is nice. We don't have any helpers, so I do all the lifting and cleaning myself. It keeps me busy. Sometimes a stray dog will sit near the door to get some shade. I don't mind as long as they don't get in the way of the customers. Gwalior is a good place to live, even if it’s a bit slow compared to the big cities. We just provide the things the families around here need every day. There is no big secret to it. On Sundays, we close a little early to spend time with family and rest.
