Roop Rang

We are at No. 10 in Star Plaza over in Lashkar. It’s a small shop in a fairly busy plaza. We sell various things for women, mostly stuff for looking after yourself or getting ready for an event. The shelves are packed with bottles and boxes, and honestly, it’s a bit hard to keep them all dusted. I’ve been working here for a few years now and I know where most things are, but sometimes we have to dig through the back to find a specific shade. It’s not like those huge malls with bright lights and music. Here, it’s a bit more relaxed. We talk to the customers about their day while they look around. The plaza itself gets crowded on the weekends, so that’s when we are most active. During the week, it can be quite slow, so I spend time rearranging the displays or checking what we need to order next. I wouldn't say we are anything special, just a regular shop in Lashkar doing what we do. We have a small stool for people to sit on if they’re tired. Sometimes the lights in the plaza flicker, but we just carry on. It’s a simple business and we’ve made some good friends through it over the years. Most people who come in live just a few streets away, so it feels like a community spot where everyone knows each other.
