Kishori Lal General Store

Kishori Lal General Store is located right near the Giriraj Mandir in the Sadar Bazaar area of Morar. Being so close to the temple means we see a lot of people passing by every single day. Gwalior can be a very busy place, and our little corner is no exception. I usually start my day by checking the stocks and seeing what needs to be ordered from the wholesalers. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. The shelves are packed with everything from cooking oils to small trinkets and daily essentials. Some days are slow, especially when the sun is directly overhead, but things pick up when people come out for their evening prayers at the Mandir. My hands are usually dusty from handling the sacks and boxes. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside the shop sometimes, but that’s just how these old market buildings are built. I try to keep things in some kind of order, though it doesn't always stay that way for long. We’ve had some of the same customers for years now, people who remember when the shop looked a bit different. It’s not about having the flashiest sign or the newest shelves. It is more about just being there when someone needs a bag of sugar or a new broom. The noise of the temple bells and the traffic outside is just part of the background now. It’s just home for me after all these years.
