Jain Clinic

Our place, Jain Clinic, is over in Dana Oli, Lashkar. If you are from around here, you know it’s one of those older parts of the city where the lanes are narrow and everything is close together. We’ve been operating from this same spot for quite a while. The clinic is just a few rooms where we see patients throughout the day. It’s not a polished medical center like you see in the new parts of town. We have old wooden chairs and a lot of paper files stacked up. Most of the people who come to see us are from the neighborhood and have been coming for years. We know their families and their history. It’s a very basic setup. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or lighting. We just make sure the place is clean and ready for whoever walks in. The afternoon hours are usually a bit slower, which gives us time to reorganize things, but the mornings and evenings are quite frantic. You can hear the sounds of the local market nearby all day long. It feels like a real part of the community here in Lashkar. We just do our daily work, writing prescriptions and checking blood pressures. It’s a modest life and we like the people we serve. No big corporate rules here, just us doing what we know how to do for the folks who live nearby.
