We have been running Jadon Masale for a good while now here on Laxmi Mandir Street in Tehsil Joura. If you walk past Naval Singh Haveli, you can usually smell the chilies and turmeric before you even see our door. The street gets quite busy during the festival times because of the temple nearby. It’s just a small place where we handle the spices every day. Some days the air is thick with the smell of coriander and it makes everyone sneeze, but that’s just how it goes in this line of work. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. It is just us in this part of Joura, keeping things moving along. People from the neighborhood stop by while they are out doing their morning chores. We try to keep the bags filled and the shelves somewhat organized, though it gets a bit messy when a big shipment of raw spices comes in. The building itself is old, but it stays cool enough even in the summer heat. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and checking the weight of the packets. Sometimes the power goes out in this part of town, so we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. It is a simple life here near the haveli. We just focus on getting the grinding done and making sure people have what they need for their kitchens.
