Gupta General Store

You can find Gupta General Store in Village Datia, right in the middle of Meena Bazar. We are very close to Maharani Janki Kunwar Hospital, so there is always a lot of movement around our shop. People are constantly walking back and forth, and the sounds of the bazaar are part of our daily life. We sell all sorts of general goods that a household might need. From soap bars to packets of biscuits, our shelves are quite full. The shop has been in the family for two generations now. It’s a small space, and it can get quite hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front door. We have a small bench outside where regulars sit and chat. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a traditional village store. Sometimes we help out people coming from the hospital who need a quick drink or a snack. We know almost everyone in the village, so it’s more like a meeting place than just a business. The floor is made of old stone and the ceiling is low. We don’t do any marketing because everyone in Datia already knows where we are. We just keep the door open and wait for the next customer to walk in. It’s a humble way to live, but we like it just fine.
