Chaha General Store

You can find Chaha General Store at 32, Lashkar, in the New Kherapati Colony area of Gwalior. We are in Beat No -7, which is a fairly quiet part of town compared to the main markets. The shop is just a simple room filled with all the things people might need in a hurry. I usually spend my mornings arranging the packets of chips and making sure the bread is fresh. We don’t have any big signs or advertisements. People in the colony just know to come to us. It’s a small operation. I run the counter and sometimes my brother helps when he’s not busy with his own work. We’ve got a lot of jars filled with different kinds of sweets which the local kids love. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get it done. Gwalior gets really cold in the winter, so we spend those days wrapped in shawls near the back of the shop. In the summer, it's the opposite, and we just hope for a breeze. We know the regular customers and their habits. One guy always buys the same brand of cigarettes at exactly 6 PM. It’s those little routines that make the day go by. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Gwalior. We just want to keep the shelves full and the neighbors happy. It is a decent way to spend the day.
