Bis General Store

Bis General Store is out in Aadityapuram in Gwalior. If you know where the Reliance Petrol Pump is, you can find me pretty easily. Being near a gas station means I see a lot of people who are just passing through town. They stop for a bottle of water or a quick snack while they fill up their tanks. But I also have my regular locals from the colony who come for their monthly groceries. Gwalior gets incredibly hot in the summer months, so I try to keep the shop as cool as possible, though it is hard with the door open all day. The shelves are filled with all sorts of things, from soaps and shampoos to different types of spices and pulses. I do all the work myself, from lifting the heavy bags to counting the change. Sometimes I get tired of the dust that blows in from the road, but that is just part of the job when you are located near a busy spot like a petrol pump. I keep a small radio on a shelf to listen to the news or some music while I wait for customers. It is a simple setup. The building is just a standard concrete structure, nothing special to look at. I have been here a while and I have seen Aadityapuram change quite a bit over the years. I just keep doing my thing, opening every morning and closing up when it gets dark.
