You can find Ashish General Store in the Nazarbagh Market area of Gwalior. We are right on the Main Road in Lashkar, which means there is never a quiet moment. The market is always buzzing with people looking for deals. Our shop has a bit of everything shoved into the corners. It’s not the most organized place, but we can usually find what a customer is asking for if they give us a minute. The walls have some old calendars hanging on them from years ago. We don't really bother taking them down. I start the day by cleaning the front step and checking if the milk crates have arrived. Gwalior gets very cold in the winter, so we usually have a small heater tucked under the counter to keep our feet warm. In the summer, it’s the opposite and we just drink a lot of cold water. We sell things like spices, cleaning supplies, and packaged food. Most of our customers are people who have been living in Lashkar for decades. They don't come for a fancy experience, they just come because they know us and we are right here on the way home. We don't do any big promotions or sales. The prices are what they are. It’s just a honest way to run a business. We spend our days watching the world go by from the front of the store and making sure the shelves aren't empty.
