Shivabasav Stores

Shivabasav Stores is situated at 1, Mandoli Road in Guwahati, 781005. This shop is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a basic general store that serves the people living around the Mandoli Road area. We sell everyday essentials like cooking oil, spices, biscuits, and some stationery for the local school children. The shop is located on a bit of a corner, so it catches some breeze, which is nice during the humid Guwahati summers. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of shelves that we keep as full as possible. We don't have a warehouse, so everything we buy from the wholesalers goes right onto the floor or the racks. It can look a bit messy sometimes, especially on delivery days when bags of rice are sitting near the door. We handle the customers one by one, using a simple notebook to keep track of what we sell. We don't have any of those modern checkout machines. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us and our customers don't seem to mind the wait. Sometimes we run out of change, so we have to ask the person from the next shop over to help us out. It’s a friendly neighborhood like that. We just keep the doors open from morning until late at night, six days a week, and try to make sure the shelves aren't empty when someone comes in for their groceries.
