Shankar Engineering

If you head down Ranga Gora Road and look across from the Forest Office, you will see our shop. Shankar Engineering has been operating from this spot for a long time. It’s a typical engineering shed—lots of heavy parts, iron bars leaning against the walls, and the constant smell of grease. We deal with all sorts of mechanical repairs and fabrication. Our machines are old but they still work perfectly fine for what we need. There’s no air conditioning here, just a couple of old ceiling fans that hum while we work. We spend most of the day bent over a lathe or standing at a workbench with a file in hand. It’s the kind of place where you can’t really keep your clothes clean for more than ten minutes. The neighbors from the Forest Office sometimes come over for a chat, and we know most of the truck drivers who pass by this road. We don’t have a website or a fancy logo. We just have a painted sign and a door that’s always open. Some days are slow, and we just spend time oiling the tools, and other days we have more work than we can handle. We take things as they come. It’s a local operation, and we like it that way. No big city pressure, just the sound of metal hitting metal and the routine of a workday. We’ve been here long enough that people just know where to find us.
