Ram Krishna Store

Our store, Ram Krishna Store, is situated in the middle of Paltan Bazar on G S Road. If you know Guwahati, you know how loud and busy this area gets. There is a constant sound of horns and people shouting outside our door. The shop itself is quite deep but narrow. We have stuff piled up almost to the ceiling. You can find bags of rice, different kinds of dals, and bottles of mustard oil everywhere. I spend a lot of time just moving things around so people can see what we have. It’s not a very modern setup. The lighting is a bit dim towards the back where we keep the heavy sacks. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for years, but we also get travelers from the nearby railway station. They usually want a bottle of water or some biscuits for their journey. My hands are usually dusty from handling the grain bags. We don't have any staff wearing uniforms. It’s just me and a helper boy who is good at climbing the ladder to get things from the top shelves. Sometimes we run out of things and I have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s just a normal way of doing business here. We don't have any big advertisements or anything. People just know we are here on the main road. It’s a lot of work but it keeps us going.
