Pranjal Shop

Our little shop is tucked away on M C Road in the Uzan Bazar area. Guwahati is a place that feels different depending on the season, and being near the river means we get a nice breeze sometimes. We sell all sorts of things, mostly stuff you need for the kitchen like rice, dal, and cooking oil. It’s a very local spot. People from the neighborhood come in every day for their bread or eggs. We try to keep the shelves full but sometimes the supply trucks get stuck in traffic. The shop is quite old and the walls could probably use some fresh paint, but it works for us. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter. My son helps me in the evenings when he is back from his work. We have a small television in the corner to keep us updated on the local news. The market here is always moving, especially in the mornings when the vegetables are fresh. We don't do any fancy marketing or anything. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars. It’s a quiet life mostly. We know whose daughter is getting married and whose son moved to another city. That’s the thing about a shop like this, you become part of everyone’s day. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing for years here on M C Road.
