We are located on the first floor of Ashiyana Apartment, which is House Number 1 on Survoday Path. This is in the ABC area, right on the busy G S Road in Guwahati. If you look across the street, you will see the Rajiv Bhawan building. Being on the first floor is nice because we don't have to wait for the elevator, which can be slow in this building when everyone is arriving for work. The apartment was converted into an office space, so it still has a bit of a homey feel, though it is full of desks and filing cabinets now. Guwahati can be very rainy, and on those days, we listen to the water hitting the glass windows while we work on our files. P Joshi and the rest of the team are usually buried under paperwork most days. The G S Road traffic is always there in the background, a constant hum of cars and people honking. We have a small balcony where we keep some plants, but they mostly just get covered in city soot and dust. Inside, the lights are those long tube lights that flicker a little when you turn them on. We don't have any fancy mission statements or posters on the walls. We just have a calendar and some maps of the local area. It is a practical space for practical work. People come in, sit on the plastic chairs, and we talk through things. It works well for what we do.
