We've been running Kunkuni Rice for a while now from our spot at Chowdhury Tila. If you know the area in Dispur, we are right across from the Secretariat on G.S. Road. It is a very busy part of town. Every morning the traffic starts early and the noise from the road never really stops until late at night. Our building is simple. We don’t have fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s mostly just sacks of rice and the smell of the grain everywhere. We spend most of our day loading and unloading trucks. The Kamrup District weather can be tough, especially when it rains heavy and we have to make sure everything stays dry. We have a small team here. Most of us have been working together for years. We know the local farmers and the people who come by to pick up orders. It’s not an easy job, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill around, just trying to get the work done right. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend half the afternoon fixing a belt or cleaning out a hopper. That’s just how it goes. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next load to arrive. It’s a basic life but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the neighborhood here near the Secretariat.
