Khushboo

Khushboo is a small shop located on M S Road in the Fancy Bazar area of Guwahati. If you have ever been to Fancy Bazar, you know it is a maze of shops and very crowded almost every day. We have our little spot here where we sell various items that people need for their daily lives. It’s not a big showroom with glass windows and bright lights. It’s a regular market shop where the shelves are stacked high and we know exactly where every single item is hidden. I’ve been working here for years and I have seen the market change quite a bit, but we just keep doing what we do. The space is a bit tight, so when we have more than three or four people inside, it can get a little cramped. But that is the charm of shopping in this part of Guwahati, I suppose. We don't spend any money on ads or social media. People just walk in while they are doing their other shopping. We try to be helpful and find what they are looking for quickly. The street outside is always loud with honking and people talking, which we have grown used to over time. We open up early in the morning and stay until the market starts to wind down. It is hard work and my back sometimes hurts from standing, but it is a good way to make a living and talk to different people every day.
