Indian Institute Of Technology, Guwahati

We are located in the Ambari area, right on Gopinath Bordoloi Road. It’s a busy part of Guwahati. Most people know this place as a big institution, but for us, it’s just where we work every day. The rain here can be quite something, and the humidity makes the old books smell a bit. We have students coming from all over the country. You see them walking around with heavy backpacks, looking a bit tired most of the time. The labs have that specific smell of chemicals and old machinery. It isn't always the polished place you see in pictures. There are patches on the walls and the fans sometimes squeak. We spend our days dealing with paperwork and helping researchers find what they need. The traffic on G.N.B. Road is always a mess during rush hour. We just try to stay focused on the tasks at hand. It’s a lot of sitting in offices and walking down long corridors. Some of the buildings are older and have a lot of history. We don't spend time on fancy talk. It’s just a place of learning and research in the middle of the city. We have a lot of tea and talk about the weather or the local news. It’s just a regular part of life in Assam for us. We keep things moving and try to stay out of the heat when the sun is actually out.
