We spend most of our days here in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Guwahati. It is a busy place with students always rushing around between lectures and labs. Most of us have been here for years, just keeping things moving. We handle a lot of the day-to-day stuff that does not get much attention, like making sure the labs are stocked and the equipment is where it should be. It gets pretty humid here by the river, and the campus is huge, so there is always a lot of walking involved. We see new faces every semester, but the work stays mostly the same. Sometimes the lab gets a bit chaotic when exams are coming up. We just try to keep the glassware clean and the chemicals organized. It is not a fancy job, but it is what we do. The morning walk to the department is probably the best part of the day because it is quiet before the students arrive. We have got a small team and we know each other's habits well. Sometimes we have tea together when there is a break in the schedule. It is just a regular workplace where science happens every day. There is always someone asking for a spare key or a specific beaker. We do not really have a big story to tell. It is just us working here in Guwahati, making sure the chemistry department keeps functioning for whoever needs to use it today.
