Gupta Store

Gupta Store is located in the Super Market area of Dispur, right near the Uco Bank on Dr R P Road. Guwahati is a place where it rains a lot, so we spend a fair amount of time making sure the roof isn't leaking onto the inventory. The shop is full of everyday items that people in Dispur need. It’s not a very fancy setup, just some metal shelves and a few light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. I usually get here early to beat the traffic, which can get pretty bad on this road. Most of our customers are people who work in the nearby offices or live in the apartments behind the market. They come in for a quick bottle of water or some biscuits. The floor is made of old tile that's a bit cracked in the corners, but it works fine. I keep a tally of what we sell in a big ledger book that sits on the counter. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything, but I’ve been doing it for so long it feels natural now. Sometimes the noise from the street is so loud you can’t hear the person standing right in front of you. We don't have any big sales or gimmicks. It’s just a regular store where you can find what you’re looking for without much fuss.
