Debnath Store

Debnath Store is situated at Sarabhati Charali in Guwahati. If you know S J Road, then you know how busy it gets around here. It’s one of those spots in the city that never seems to go quiet. Our shop is small, and we focus on the daily essentials. Most of what we sell is stuff people use in their kitchens or for cleaning their houses. We’ve been in Sarabhati for quite some time now. The building is older, and the shelves are made of wood that’s seen better days, but it works for us. Guwahati has a lot of big malls now, but many people still prefer coming to a local store where they can talk to the owner. I know my customers’ names and usually what they are going to ask for before they even say it. We get our supplies from the local wholesalers and try to keep everything fresh. The monsoon season is always a bit tricky because the rain in Assam can be very heavy, and sometimes the road gets flooded, but we stay open as much as possible. It’s just me and a helper most days. We don’t have any fancy marketing. We just put the items out where people can see them. It’s a simple, honest way to get through the day. People stop by on their way to work or on their way home, and we are just a part of the local scenery.
