Operating right off National Highway No. 37 means there is never a quiet moment at our place. We deal with cranes and heavy machinery, so being near a major road is actually pretty helpful for moving things in and out. Most days, we are out in the yard checking the equipment or helping someone load up a rental. The highway noise is just something we’ve stopped noticing after all these years. It’s dusty work, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the shift. We aren’t a big corporate office with polished floors; we have a yard full of steel and grease. When a call comes in for a crane, we just figure out which one is ready and get it out the door. It’s honest work that requires a lot of attention to how the machines are running. We spend a lot of time on maintenance because these things take a beating on the job sites. The crew here is mostly guys who like working with their hands. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the traffic on the 37 while we work. It’s a simple setup, really. We have a small office for the books, but most of the real action happens outside with the iron. People stop by because they see the signs from the road. We just tell them what we have available and go from there without much talk.
