Beatrix

If you know the Guwahati Club area, you probably know where we are. We sit right on M C Road, directly across from St Marys Convent. It’s a hectic part of town, especially when school lets out and the traffic starts backing up near the club. Beatrix has been a part of this street for quite some time. We open up early and stay till the evening rush dies down. The building itself is old, so it has some quirks, like the floorboards that creak in certain spots. We don’t mind it much. It feels like home to us. Our regulars are mostly folks working in the nearby offices or parents waiting for their kids. We keep the place clean, though the dust from the road is a never-ending battle. The menu hasn't changed in years because people seem to like things the way they are. We aren't trying to be a five-star spot or anything like that. It’s just us, serving food and drinks in a space that’s seen a lot of history. Sometimes the rain gets really heavy and we have to make sure the door stays shut tight. It's just a local business trying to get through the day. We recognize most faces that walk through the door by now. It’s nice having that connection with the neighborhood. Guwahati is a busy place, but here, things feel a bit slower.
