Arya Hospitals

Being right across from the Apsara Cinema Hall in Rehabari means it is always noisy outside our front door. You can hear the traffic and the people heading to the movies all day long while we are inside working. This hospital is tucked into the Rehabari area on A M Road, and it has become a bit of a landmark for locals who need a doctor. The lobby is usually full of people sitting on plastic chairs, some reading old newspapers and others just staring at the walls. We have different floors for different things, and the elevator is a bit slow, so most of us just take the stairs to save time. The nurses are always rushing around with clipboards, and the smell of floor cleaner is pretty strong in the mornings. It’s a practical kind of place, nothing too fancy or modern. We have some plants in the corners that don't get much sun, but we try to water them when we remember. The windows look out over the busy street, and you can see the cinema posters from the upper rooms. Our days are mostly spent checking charts and talking to families who are worried about their relatives. It is a lot of work keeping everything organized, especially when it gets crowded in the afternoons. We just try to get through the shift and make sure everyone gets seen.
