The Dance Nation

Down here in Sector 56 of Gurgaon, things move pretty fast. We’re right in the middle of all the residential blocks, so we get a lot of people coming in after they finish their workday at one of the big offices nearby. The studio is a straightforward space. We’ve got some good mirrors and a floor that we try our best to keep clean, though with all the dust in Gurgaon, it’s a constant battle. We usually open up in the late afternoon when the heat starts to die down a little bit. It’s just a small group of us running the show. We don’t have any fancy titles; we all just do what needs to be done, whether that’s fixing a speaker or showing someone how to find the beat. The air conditioning is our best friend during the summer months, though it tends to make a bit of a rattling noise when it’s working hard. Most of the people who come here are locals from the surrounding apartments. It’s a nice little community where everyone kind of knows each other. We don’t put on airs or try to act like we’re some big international brand. We’re just a local spot where you can come and sweat for a bit while learning some steps. It’s practical, it’s a bit noisy, and it’s where we spend most of our waking hours during the week.
