The factory floor here at Sandhar Locking Devices in Gurgaon is always moving. We deal with locks for vehicles all day long. It's not the cleanest job, you get some grease on your hands and the smell of metal is everywhere. The machines make a steady rhythm that you eventually stop hearing after a few hours. We spend a lot of time looking at small pins and springs that go into the locking mechanisms. If one piece is off, the whole thing won't turn right. Most of the guys have been here for years and they can assemble these parts with their eyes closed. We have a lot of crates stacked up near the loading dock. Gurgaon is a hub for this kind of work, so there is always a sense of being part of a much bigger chain. We don't really have a big office for meetings; most stuff gets decided right there by the assembly line. The lighting could be brighter, but we manage. Lunch breaks are usually taken sitting on the benches outside when the weather allows it. It is just a straightforward place where we make sure car doors and ignitions can lock properly. Nothing more to it than that. We just show up, do the shifts, and keep the production numbers steady so the next factory in the line doesn't have to wait for us.
