River Fork Educational Foundation

Our foundation is set up at H. No. 1568 in Sector 15 of Gurugram. It’s a regular house on a regular street, which makes it feel a lot more comfortable for the students who come by. We wanted to focus on education because we saw so many kids who just needed a bit of extra help. The living room is mostly full of old desks and bookshelves now. It’s not a fancy learning center with new gadgets. We mostly use hand-me-down books and whatever paper we can find. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we all have to wait around, but we use that time to just talk to the kids. Most of us who work here have lived in Haryana for a long time. We know how tough it can be to get a good start. We aren't trying to be a big institution. We’re just a small group of neighbors trying to share what we know. The house gets a bit noisy when everyone shows up at once, and we often run out of chairs. It’s a bit disorganized at times, with piles of homework and half-finished projects everywhere. But we don't mind the mess. It shows that things are actually happening. We just take it day by day and try to be as helpful as we can to anyone who walks in. It is simple, practical work for the neighborhood.
