Mubarakpur Youth Welfare Foundation

Our foundation is located in Ward Number 2 of Mubarakpur, which is in the Farrukh Nagar area of Gurgaon. It’s quite far from the fancy malls and the big offices. Out here, things are much more traditional and simple. We started this in 122506 because this is where we are from. We didn't want to go to the big city to start something. We wanted to stay right here in our own village. The office is just a small room in a local building. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that makes a bit of noise when it's on high. Most of the people involved are local residents who give their time after their own work is done. We don't have any corporate funding or big donors. It’s just a community effort. We focus on the kids and the young people in our ward. Sometimes we just sit and talk about what the neighborhood needs. We don't have a website or any fancy marketing. I’m writing this because we need a basic description. We aren't looking for fame. We just want to see the youth here doing well. The streets are a bit dusty and the roads aren't always great, but this is home. We handle things as they come, one day at a time. It’s not always easy and we make mistakes, but we keep trying.
