Mikasa Shoji (Impex) Pte. Ltd. is right in the thick of it over in DLF Cyber City. We are up on the 7th floor of Tower A, Building No. 5, in the Ricoh Business Zone. If you have ever been to Phase III, Sector 24 in Gurugram, you know it’s basically a forest of glass buildings and people in business suits. Our office is part of that, but it feels a bit more down-to-earth once you get inside. We have a view of the other towers, which is interesting for a few minutes until you have to get back to the spreadsheets. Most of our work involves managing imports and exports, which means we are constantly checking the clock to see if our contacts in other countries are awake yet. The office has that typical corporate building smell, but we’ve tried to make our space feel a bit more comfortable with some plants that we sometimes forget to water. It’s a busy place to work because everything in Cyber City moves fast. The food court downstairs is usually where we end up for lunch, though it gets incredibly crowded around one o’clock. We spend a lot of time on video calls and dealing with shipping schedules. It is a lot of coordination and making sure no one missed an important detail in a contract. We just come in, do our bit, and head home like everyone else in the building.
