Maakalka Care Foundation

Started at Rekha Yadav’s place in Nathupur. It’s just a regular spot in the village. Most days we are just sitting there and figuring out who needs help. It gets a bit crowded when people show up all at once. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just some chairs and a table. The village is quiet mostly but things pick up in the morning. People walk in from the nearby houses. We try to listen to what they have to say. Sometimes it’s about a sick kid or someone needing a bit of money for school books. We do what we can with what we have. It’s not always easy because the funds are tight. Some days are slow and we just drink tea and talk about the crops or the weather. Then other days everyone is rushing around. It feels right to be here instead of some big city building. We know our neighbors. Rekha helps keep things organized even when it gets messy. We don't really have a big plan, we just take it one day at a time. The street outside gets muddy when it rains. That makes it harder for people to visit. But we stay open. It’s been a few years now. We just keep going. It’s hard work but it’s just what we do here in Nathupur. We always make sure there is enough tea to go around for whoever stops by to talk.
